How to Update Your Records.
Thanks to Ted McAnly for this information
Now here is how you can up-date your own records. I asked Dave Harriss, our Treasurer, to go to the new USSVI website and put into plain language how to sign in the first time and get your password.

To access the USSVI Website:
1. Go to www.ussvi.org
2. On Home page click "Member Log in" at the top left hand column
3. If you have never logged in before go down about half way in paragraph below the lin-in spaces adn click on "Click here to have it sent to you".
4. Screen comes up where you can enter personal identifying data. If you have an email address on file with USSVI, they will almost instantaneously, send you an email with your log-in name and password. Once you have that you can go back to the home page and log-in.
Once logged in click on "profile" to see what info they have on you and to correct any wrong info. There are several tabs "Career", "Ships", Shore-Duty" etc. Correct/fill in info only where you wish.
With that same log-in name and password, you can also log on to site: "decklog.com" to get info on shipmates/reunions etc.
Thank you Dave for your Help.
Tang Base Notes
Bad news for all of us. Captain Tom Dabney and his lovely wife Lilliane are leaving us. They are moving to Annapolis, MD on October 15th so they will not be at the picnic. Tom is now 93 years old and they want to be near several of their nine children, one of whom is a nurse. Tom and Lilliane we will all miss you and we at Tang Base wish both of you, as they say in nautucal terms, Fair Winds and Following Seas . . . May God Bless.
With over 25 members of Tang Base now members of American Legion Post #104 I will be including in our newsletters info about the post's happenings.
Since 2002 Tang Base, by design, has grown in spite of many members starting on their Eternal Patrols and members moving out of state. I have had several new members ask how the base got the name of the USS Tang SS-306. There were 52 boats lost in WWII. When the WWII National organization was formed they assigned each state a boat with California and New York assigned two. Florida was assigned the USS Tang SS-306. When US Submarine Veterans, Inc. first established in Pinellas County the founding members chose USS Tang S306 for our base name. October 24, 1944 is the date that the USS Tang SS-306 was sunk.
